2008

New or migrated data:
    - over 2,800 references and over 600 Journals
    - over 500 cotton researchers with contact and research interests information
    - ~100,000 new sequences
BLAST Server: New available sequence databases:
    - Cotton nucleotide sequences (all kinds), of GenBank, TIGR, and PlantGDB.
    - A combination of GenBank UniGenes, TIGR Cotton Gene Index, and PlantGDB Gossypium EST assmbly.
    - Gossypium hirsutum UniGene sequences, of GenBank
    - Gossypium raimondii UniGene sequences, of GenBank
    - All cotton proteins, of GenBank and UniProt
2007

New or migrated data:
    - 9,000 germplasm records of 13 different collections (mainly from US)
    - Evaluation data and passport infromation of part of the germplasm records
    - Pedigrees of 660 Upland and Pima cultivars (From Bowman et al. 2006.)
    - Cotton related pathologies
BLAST Server: New sequence database availabilities
    - Cotton SSR/microsatellite sequences, either or not have been submitted to genbank
    - Arabidopsis compressed putative unique transcript sequences, PlantGDB version 157a
    - Arabidopsis Gene Index sequence data from TIGR Release 13.0
    - Cotton Gene Index sequence data from TIGR Release 8.0
2006

CottonDB.org : The new home for CottonDB has been established.
    - Migration starts, from the original site (http://cottondb.tamu.edu) to new site (http://cottondb.org).
    - Sequence data updated and migrated
    - Taxonomy data updated and migrated
    - SSR data updated and migrated
    - Function tools such as CMap Viewer, FPC Viewer, Quick Queries, BLAST Server have been added.

Current Activities:
  • Update map, QTL, trait study and marker data
  • China Germplasm data
  • Setting up the Genome Browser to allow for genomic comparisons between Arabidopsis and Gossypium sequences
  • Creating new data submission page
  • Enhancing the Quick Queries page
  • Finishing the migration
